The modern educational system was not originally designed primarily for the holistic growth of children. Rather, it has largely developed to meet the needs of economic development and society, producing individuals equipped with practical skills. As a result, schools and universities often promote an instrumental approach to education. From the very first day of school, children are encouraged to equip themselves with the knowledge and abilities needed to compete.

Although contemporary educational theory also emphasises interest-based learning, nurturing children’s potential, and developing their natural talents, the underlying objective often remains the same: to prepare them to become successful participants in the marketplace. Success is thought to require rigorous training, and educational experts offer increasingly efficient methods for mastering knowledge. Consequently, children may find themselves burdened with one curriculum after another, expected to learn, whether or not the learning resonates with their own interests.
